Spotlight on the SHAZAM Payments Association

The Center for Payments is a joint program sponsored by the ten U.S. payments associations for the purpose of helping members and staff better prepare for the continued evolution of U.S. payment systems. SHAZAM Payments Association is a sponsor of the Center for Payments, a program working to advance the U.S. payment systems through market intelligence and thought leadership.

“The SHAZAM Payments Association supports the Center for Payments’ mission of helping our members prepare for the continued evolution of U.S. payment systems,” said Janet LaFrence, SHAZAM Payments Association Director. “Not only are we a voice in the advancement of the payments system, but the SHAZAM Payments Association also encourages professional growth and development through our support for the Nacha® Accredited ACH Professional (AAP) and Accredited Payment Risk Professional (APRP) programs,” said LaFrence. 

The SHAZAM Payments Association is made up of in-house experts with deep ACH knowledge. The team also facilitates education and awareness of faster payments, including the RTP® and FedNow® instant payment networks. Additionally, the team provides subject matter expertise and actively collaborates with Nacha and the Faster Payments Council on the new Faster Payments Professional (FPP) certification program and the Accredited Faster Payments Professional (AFPP), currently under development.

Originally named the Iowa ACH Association (IACHA), the SHAZAM Payments Association continues to serve financial institutions in Iowa and neighboring states as a resource for all things ACH. Services provided include:

  • ACH publications
  • Timely communication of important industry information
  • Support planning for upcoming Nacha Rule changes
