Jace Day poses with CBAI staff after receiving Service Provider of the Year award

SHAZAM®, the only nationwide independent debit network, processor and core provider serving community banks, received the Community BancService Corporation Inc. Service Provider of the Year award at the Community Banking Association of Illinois 51st Annual Convention & Exposition on Sept. 19 in Kansas City, MO. The award recognizes an association partner that consistently provides superior customer service and innovative solutions to help community banks grow, improve profitability and gain efficiencies. Additionally, the partner must demonstrate a commitment to community banking through its participation in CBAI events and national community banking affiliates.

“We’re humbled and honored to be recognized with this award," says Jace Day, SHAZAM EVP & Chief Business Officer. “We value our partnership with CBAI and our shared commitment of providing community banks with the products and services they need to empower their customers and communities.”

This past year, SHAZAM demonstrated its partnership with CBAI and Illinois community banks in multiple ways. Patrick Dix, SHAZAM VP Client & Association Engagement, spoke about artificial intelligence and the future of payments at 11 CBAI group meetings. This presentation focuses on the ways AI is already in the marketplace, enhancing payments, authentication and customer experience. It also looks down the road at the potential risks AI, and its uses, pose for banking in the future.

Mike Burke, SHAZAM Sr. Financial Crimes Consultant, is a consistent presence at CBAI events. This year, Burke went above and beyond in providing his knowledge and expertise in mitigating ATM jackpotting attacks. SHAZAM and CBAI hosted a free learning session to discuss how ATMs are increasingly targeted by bad actors, posing significant risks to financial institutions. Burke also shared how those attacks are carried out and teaches how CBAI members can protect their bank against these threats.

At the executive level, Terry Dooley, SHAZAM EVP & Chief Operating Officer, is a member of the CBSC payments committee. He regularly advises the committee on payments issues. Dan Kramer, SHAZAM EVP Government & Community Affairs, worked hand-in-hand with David Schroeder, CBAI VP Federal Government Affairs, to shape and influence bills affecting the community banking profession at the state and federal level.

“SHAZAM’s utmost commitment to community banks has been constant since the beginning,” says Mike Kelley, CBSC President. “They are more just a vendor; they are a partner with a proven track record of understanding what community banks need to stay competitive and relevant in today’s world."

SHAZAM has a long history of service and contributions to Illinois community banks. This year marks SHAZAM's 25th anniversary of its partnership with CBSC Inc., a subsidiary of CBAI. Since the beginning, the partnership has been more than providing Illinois community banks with a preferred provider for debit processing and ATM network services. It has been about ensuring community banks continue to have choice and flexibility to best meet their customers’ needs. This holds true today as the partnership has expanded into SHAZAM delivering core, digital banking and document management services to community banks, in addition to their premium debit network and processing services.
