SHAZAM Recognized for Volunteerism by United Way of Central Iowa

SHAZAM is honored to receive a LIVE UNITED Champion Award as part of the annual LIVE UNITED Celebration. This is the fifth time in the past seven years SHAZAM has been honored by United Way of Central Iowa for our community service contributions.
The LIVE UNITED Champion Award honors organizations of all sizes that have made an exceptional impact in the community over the past year. SHAZAM was recognized for engaging with United Way of Central Iowa and inspiring employees, partners, and others to do so by giving, advocating, and volunteering to improve lives.
SHAZAM’s nomination was selected by a panel of 14 judges who are volunteers from across Central Iowa and was one of four organizations recognized for their service to their community in partnership with the United Way of Central Iowa.
“SHAZAM takes pride in being a company making a measurable impact in our community through our United Way of Central Iowa partnership,” says SHAZAM Executive Vice President & Chief HR Officer Jackie Rolow. “Having United Way as a partner of choice allows us to fulfill our company cultural goal of involving and engaging employees.”
SHAZAM has a dedicated United Way team as part of SHAZAM CARES, an employee-led group to give employees a chance to socialize, have fun and make a difference in the Central Iowa community. The team plans an annual giving campaign, basket raffle, book drive and other events throughout the year.
Through SHAZAM CARES, employees helped create and donate 60 Magic Reading Carpets to United Way’s Book Buddies and inspired more than 30 employees to volunteer for the United Way Day of Action.
“We get the privilege of seeing how financial institutions support their communities," says SHAZAM President and Chief Executive Officer Paul Waltz. “It’s only fitting that we demonstrate the importance of supporting each other and the communities we call home in junction with United Way of Central Iowa so we can all thrive.”
