Hello <name of supervisor>,

I would like to attend the 2018 SHAZAM Forum in Des Moines, Iowa, on April 10 – 12.

The SHAZAM Forum is the premier annual event for community financial institutions and the 2018 theme is Spectrum of Success. This year's agenda focuses on fraud, challenges of mobile technology and how to use data to increase profitability — all topics that are very applicable to our business challenges. Here are several reasons why I should attend the 2018 SHAZAM Forum:

  1. The SHAZAM Forum is uniquely relevant
The event features many educational sessions and motivational workshops that will greatly benefit my work. For example: One of the keynote speakers is Connie Podesta who will be talking about how building healthy relationships can help lead towards success. This will help me understand the minds and personalities of the people I work with every day and how I can act instead of react.
  2. The session lineup is packed with incredible speakers
SHAZAM has curated the brightest minds on topics ranging from cybersecurity and the Internet of Things to personal growth and development. Jim Olson, the former Chief of Counterintelligence at the CIA is speaking. His presentation will give me a great example about learning and adapting to deal with problems or dilemmas I might encounter day to day.
  3. I'll learn more about SHAZAM products and services
During this event, I'll learn more about the services we currently have with SHAZAM. I'll also learn more about additional products that'll help us retain current cardholders, attract new accountholders and learn about tools for fraud mitigation! Additionally, I plan to visit three key exhibit booths at the event to assist me with <insert your own job‑related needs>.
  4. I'll rub shoulders with industry peers
The 2018 SHAZAM Forum has many different networking opportunities, including a peer‑to‑peer networking session where I can talk to other organizations. I'll be able to discuss innovative ideas, share business success stories, connect on challenges we're facing and learn how they're combating crime in their communities. But additionally, I will get to know more people within our industry to build a great network for our organization.
  5. Our institution should be represented
What we're doing here at <insert your financial institution name> is exciting! We are helping our community and consumers towards better financial success. We should be representing our brand and the industry to grow and learn from other community financial institutions, employees and SHAZAM.
  6. We could win a $1,000 charitable contribution
By visiting SHAZAM exhibitor booths (and learning how to ramp up the services we're offering to cardholders), I'll be entered to win a $1,000 donation to any community charity of our choice — in our name. Our community would definitely benefit from this donation! Plus, I'll come back with exclusive SHAZAM Forum discounts and promotions.

I'm confident you'll see this as a worthwhile investment. It's an opportunity for me to network with other community financial institutions, hear fresh ideas and grow my knowledge around our profession. My attendance at this conference is a wise investment and will pay off all year long. Please respond with your approval ASAP — seats are filling up fast! My registration fee is only $345, and if you decide to attend yourself or send another employee, he or she can attend for only $245. I'll come back refreshed and poised to help our organization tackle new challenges.

Sincerely,

<Sign your name here>

March 5, 2018

Des Moines is a great city, and we can prove it. Do you have time before or after the SHAZAM Forum to experience Des Moines? Read on to view our top recommendations!

The Capital Building
You should be able to see the 23K gold dome from many places in the city. So as you fly or drive in, keep your eyes peeled. This historical building is packed with a ton of Iowa artifacts. From the governor’s keepsakes to the ship bell of the USS Iowa, there’s a lot to see. But more than anything, it’s just a beautiful place to experience.

John and Mary Pappajohn Sculpture Park
First of all, yes his name is John Pappajohn. Clever right?

The Sculpture Park is a can’t miss. It’s a 4.4 acre park located in the middle of downtown featuring more than 20 art sculptures from artists around the world. It’s open from dusk to dawn, so whether you’re an early riser or a night owl, you can watch the sunset or find the moon while taking in some beautiful artwork.

Gray’s Lake Park
Don’t want to stay indoors? Check out Gray’s Lake. It’s open at 5 a.m. and closes at midnight and has a 1.9 mile trail encircling the lake. So whether you want to walk, bike or run this is a great Des Moines stop.

Principal Park – I-Cubs
Fan of “America’s Favorite Past Time”? Iowa Cubs will be playing Oklahoma City Dodgers on Monday, April 9 at 1:08 p.m. Get your tickets, here.

West End Architectural Salvage
You could spend hours in here! This local favorite retail shop is four stories selling eclectic items from New York, Chicago, St. Louis, Minneapolis, England, the Middle East, etc. They have everything from furniture to stained glass to tin panels. It even has a coffee shop for a quick pick me up!

“I love the speakers and breakout sessions. I get a lot of hands-on information to bring to management regarding what other peer banks are doing. I appreciate that the tables are set up with similar size institutions.
